The 34-year-old from Stirling is already more than halfway towards beating his earnings that year - and he's only played in two events.
Lee, who earned his place back at the top table afrer finishing 14th on last season's Challenge Tour money-list, started his new season by finishing eighth in the Africa Open at East London.
And he kept up the good work by recording another top 20 in the following week's Joburg Open, the second leg of a South African double-header.
Between the two, Lee picked up earnings of close to £32,000 to sit in a lofty 12th position in the Race to Dubai after the opening pair of events.
"I'm happy with my start to the season," he admitted. "It's nice to see the winter work I did in Spain starting to pay-off.
"I rented an apartment at Hacienda Riquelme, where I worked mainly on my short game with loads of putting drills.
"The putter let me down in Joburg but, nevertheless, the start I've made helps the cause for the re-rank later in the season.
"It also sets me in a good frame of mind for the rest of the season."
Four seasons ago, Lee made only a handful of cuts as he got his first taste of European Tour action and lost his card after finishing 186th on the money-list.
But, helped enormously by becoming a Team Scottish Hydro member last year, he feels a much better player on his return to the circuit.
