In 2008 he won the Scottish Amateur Championship at Carnoustie and was part of the Eisenhower Trophy winning Scottish Team.
Callum attended the University of Mississippi on a golf scholarship and graduated in 2007. He returned to Scotland as a full-time amateur player. The same year he reached the semi-finals of the Amateur Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes and won the South East District Championship and the Newlands Trophy. These results helped him win the Scottish Order of Merit and be crowned Scottish Golfer of the Year.
The 2009 season included a second place finish at the Madeira Open and three top twelve finishes. Callum played the 2010 Challenge Tour and the category he earned has full playing privileges for 2011.
