Gavin was part of the 2008 Eisenhower Trophy winning Scotland team and Scottish Golfer of the Year in 2009.
He also finished Scotland's leading player according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (12th) at the end of the 2009 season.
This accolade came on the back of a season where he won the prestigious Dixie Men's Amateur in Florida and Irish Open Amateur. He also finished second in the Scottish Stroke-play and was a semi finalist in the Spanish Amateur.
He was a member of the Scotland side that won the European Amateur Championship and the 2009 Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team.
Gavin played on the Alps Tour in 2010, finishing fourth on the order of merit. He won the Feudi di Asti Golf Open in Italy which helped secure his position.
